As reported by Caught Offside, Manchester United are internally discussing whether they should sign Adrien Rabiot or not. The midfielder is a free agent after leaving Juventus at the end of the previous season and hasn’t found a new home yet.
Adrien Rabiot wants to play in the Premier League.
Adrien Rabiot switched to Juventus in the summer of 2019 from PSG. Though he initially struggled at the Italian club, things improved as time passed. Later on, he went on to become an integral part of the side, contributing significantly.
Rabiot finally ended his career with Juventus and left as a free agent after the end of the 2023-24 season. He featured in 35 games, netting five goals and providing three assists. He averaged 1.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, and 0.9 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Frenchman is a box-to-box midfielder who enjoys freedom in the middle of the park. He provides solid defensive traits and also gets directly involved in the attacking fold. His versatility to don different roles is also a surplus.
Adrien Rabiot is demanding a high salary
Manchester United hasn’t replaced Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat with anyone. Moreover, the bad form of Casemiro isn’t hidden from anyone. Hence, the club are considering bringing in Adrien Rabiot to control the situation.
Rabiot is an experienced campaigner who can make an instant impact upon arrival. His versatility and qualities will add a lot of value to the squad. As he will come on a free basis, he could be a good deal for the Red Devils.
However, the 29-year-old allegedly wants a lucrative salary to join Old Trafford. He received offers from a few clubs outside Europe but he rejected them. He plans to play in Europe and join the Premier League specifically.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United will find a way to finance Rabiot or not. Apart from them, Newcastle United are also present in the race.
