According to The Sun, Manchester United are interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka next summer. The midfielder is reportedly unhappy at the German club due to lack of game-time and won’t mind leaving them at the end of the season.
Leon Goretzka has contributed significantly over the past decade
After spells at VfL Bochum and Schalke 04, Leon Goretzka joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013. He managed to impress everyone in the initial opportunities. As a result, he earned a prominent role by the end of the season.
Goretzka has been a great servant to Bayern Munich, helping them lift multiple titles. Last season, he featured in 42 games, netting six goals and providing 11 assists. He averaged 1.9 shots, 1.1 key passes, and 0.4 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The German is a proper box-to-box midfielder with a nature of attacking. He is very fast and provides a high work rate in the middle of the park. He takes less risk while building from the back and tries to be creative in the final third.
Leon Goretzka can be a valuable pick
Leon Goretzka is unhappy at Bayern Munich as he isn’t getting enough game time. Aleksandar Pavlovic has emerged as the club’s main midfielder and the signing of Joao Palhinha has made the case even worse for the veteran name.
The situation has escalated to a point where Goretzka is willing to leave the German club. Sensing an opportunity, Manchester United want to bank on and lure away him to Old Trafford next season.
It could be a good acquisition for the Red Devils given the 29-year-old’s experience and qualities. His presence will add a lot of value in the midfield unit as well as help the young bloods in the squad. The player’s contract will run out in 2016, meaning Bayern Munich will be desperate to cash in him next summer.
