As reported by Football Transfers, Manchester United are seriously considering signing Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic in the upcoming winter window. It comes after their assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy urged the club to do so.
Dusan Vlahovic has been impressive
After representing Partizan and Fiorentina, Dusan Vlahovic moved to Juventus in the winter of 2022. In a short time, he managed to impress the management and cement his position in the lineup. He delivered good performances and has attracted interest from multiple clubs.
Vlahovic scored 18 goals and provided three assists in 38 games last season. He averaged 3.3 shots, 0.9 key passes, and 0.5 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He has started the 2024-25 campaign on a strong note with two goals already to his name in two outings.
The Serbian is a proper striker, who is known for his physicality, technique and hunger for goals. He possesses the ability to link up with his teammates and create threats. With long shots and clinical finishing skills, he is a top-notch player.
Does Manchester United need any more strikers?
Manchester United are taking Ruud van Nistelrooy‘s advice seriously as he is prime contender to replace Erik ten Hag if the club sacks him. Hence, the management has agreed to send scouts to watch Dusan Vlahovic play over the next few months.
Though Vlahovic is a great talent with massive potential, the moves make little sense. The Red Devils already have Rasmus Hojlund and they recently acquired Joshua Zirkzee too. Moreover, the arrival of Chido Obi-Martin has ensured that they have enough options for the striker role.
In such a scenaria, it would not be an ideal decision to invest in another striker. Unless a striker departs in the winter window, signing Vlahovic will not benefit in any manner. Juventus rates the striker around €50 million and are unlikely to sanction the transfer for anything less than that.
