In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Ajax forward Brian Brobbey. It has been claimed that the Red Devils are eager to bring the Dutch forward to Old Trafford next year.
Brobbey’s Impressive Form In Dutch Football
Brobbey enjoyed an impressive campaign at the Dutch club after he put in a handful of productive displays as the focal point of their attack. The 22-year-old scored 22 times and earned 12 assists in 43 matches for Ajax last season across various competitions.
The Dutch talent was a reliable performer in the final third as he averaged 2.8 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Eredivisie. He was even tidy when distributing the ball after completing 79.1% of his attempted passes in the Dutch top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Ajax will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Man United to snap him up on the cheap next year.
What Will Brobbey Add To Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag’s Side?
Brobbey can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a good finisher in the final third and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates to score.
The Dutch talent is a good dribbler with the ball as well. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Man United manage to bring him to Old Trafford this January or at the end of this campaign.
We can expect Brobbey to add more firepower to Erik ten Hag’s frontline if he can make a smooth transition to life in English football. He is good enough to compete with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee for a regular first-team role at the Mancunian club over the next few years.
At 22, Brobbey has the potential to be a future star in European football. Therefore, the Red Devils would be wise to go all out to get the Dutch striker on board in 2025. However, ten Hag would have to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the player in the future.
