In a recent report, journalists Danny Rust and Dean Jones stated that Manchester United are keeping a keen eye on Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils have identified the talented defender as a target for next year.
Robinson’s Decent Run Of Form In The Premier League Last Season
Robinson enjoyed an impressive campaign at Craven Cottage as he managed to put in a string of eye-catching performances on the left side of Fulham’s defence. The United States international did well to pick up seven assists in 44 matches for the Cottagers last season in various competitions.
The 27-year-old gave a good account of himself on the left flank and deserves credit for averaging 2.5 tackles, 2.2 interceptions, 2.9 clearances, 0.9 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even tidy when interchanging possession for his teammates after making 75.9% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Robinson is under contract at the London club until the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for Man United to snap him up on a cut-price deal next year.
Should Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag Recruit Robinson?
Robinson loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and can create some inviting chances for his teammates up top.
The American talent is a good dribbler with the ball as well but needs to find a way to add more goals to his game. He has already got some valuable experience in Premier League football and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man United.
We can expect Robinson to enhance the quality of Erik ten Hag’s first team. He has what it takes to serve as an ideal replacement for Luke Shaw, who has been quite injury-prone recently, at the Mancunian club.
Therefore, ten Hag would be wise to recruit Robinson when the transfer window reopens this January. At 27, he is playing in his prime and is good enough to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford if Man United manage to snap him up next year.
