Manchester City Keen On Signing This Athletic Bilbao Star: One For The Future?

According to Fichajes, Manchester City are keen on signing Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oihan Sancet in the next summer transfer window. The Premier League club consider him a top player and want to acquire his services to continue their dominance in European football.

Oihan Sancet’s Rising Stakes

Oihan Sancet came through the ranks of Athletic Bilbao’s Academy. He made his senior debut in 2018 and since then, he has been climbing up the ladders. He is already an integral part of the squad and a consistent performer.

Sancet played a crucial role last season where he scored six goals and as many assists in 38 games. He averaged 1.4 shots, 1.4 key passes, and 0.9 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).

The Spanish midfielder is a box-to-box player who contributes to all aspects of the game. He is technically strong and attracts players towards him to create spaces for others. With great dribbling and passing skills, he is a top-notch talent to possess.

Oihan Sancet has long contract at Athletic Bilbao

Manchester City decided against signing too many names this summer. They signed Savinho and brought Ilkay Gundogan, who came for free from Barcelona. Fair to say that they were quite lucky to retain some key players despite heavy departure reports.

However, it might not be the same story the next summer. Kevin De Bruyne is in the final year of his contract and might move to Saudi. On the other hand, Bernardo Silva can also take an exit despite having a long contract at Etihad Stadium.

Hence, Manchester City want to remain prepared for such events. Pep Guardiola rates Oihan Sancet highly and believes he has the potential to serve the Citizens for many years to come. The midfielder has a contract until 2032 with Athletic Bilbao. This means that the Spanish side will be relaxed about the players’ future and will likely demand around €60 million.
