In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Manchester City are keeping tabs on Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White. It has been stated that the Mancunian outfit are big admirers of the English attacker.
Gibbs-White’s Excellent Run Of Form In English Football Last Season
Gibbs-White had a great campaign at the City Ground recently after he produced a run of impressive performances for Nottingham in the Premier League. The English talent was involved in 42 matches for his current employers last season, netting six goals and grabbing ten assists across all fronts.
The 24-year-old was a consistent performer in the opposition half and deserves credit for averaging 1.9 shots, 2.0 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass success rate of 76.9% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Midlands club will expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man City to recruit him on a cut-price deal next year.
Is Gibbs-White A Good Option For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?
Gibbs-White is a decent dribbler with the ball and can create a few inviting chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field. He can even strike the ball with power and precision from long range.
The English sensation did well to add a lot of goals and assists to his game last season. He mainly operates as an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-winger if asked to do so.
We can expect Gibbs-White to add more goals and creativity to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola‘s attack. He is good enough to serve as an ideal long-term replacement for Kevin de Bruyne who has entered the final stage of his Man City career. The English talent already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Etihad Stadium.
At 24, Gibbs-White has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Mancunian giants to consider in 2025. Therefore, Gibbs-White would be a great option for Man City to pursue in the long run.
