According to Inter-Live, Manchester City are interested in signing Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella the next summer. However, the English giant will have to convince the player to join them besides competing with the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Nicolo Barella is a known figure
Nicolo Barella arrived at Inter Milan in the summer of 2019 from Cagliari. He kept on proving himself with every opportunity that came his way. Today, he is not only an integral part of the squad but also the leader of the pack.
Barella played an instrumental role in helping the Italian side clinch the Serie A title last season. He netted two goals and provided seven assists in 48 games. He averaged 1.1 shots, 1.1 key passes, and 0.8 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Italian can don any role in the midfield and is known for his technicality and high work rate. He has good control in tight spaces and is a good carrier of the ball. He provides great through balls and is well-equipped to take effective free kicks.
Will Nicolo Barella join Manchester City?
Nicolo Barella was the stand-out performer from Inter Milan in the last two meetings against Manchester City. Hence, it’s natural for City manager Pep Guardiola to admire the player besides liking his playing style of play.
The Spanish manager has always enjoyed having a technical midfielder who can create threats in the final third. With Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic‘s future uncertain at Etihad Stadium, it would make sense for the Citizens to sign a new midfielder.
Barella could be a great pick given his experience and proven records. However, the player has a contract with Inter Milan until 2029. It means Manchester City will have to offer a lucrative deal on the table apart from convincing the player to join them. It will be a tough job but they are capable of executing it with perfection.
