Newcastle United will entertain Manchester City at St. James’ Park this Saturday afternoon as they look to grind out a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies suffered a tough 3-1 loss away at Fulham recently, so they would be eager to put in a much-improved showing this weekend.
Eddie Howe will opt for the 4-3-3 formation and is expected to name a strong first team for this game. Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali could get a chance to impress from the start of this contest.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Nick Pope will function in goal for the Magpies after shipping in three goals in his last league outing. Fabian Schar will continue to operate alongside Dan Burn at the centre of the Newcastle defence as they try to keep Erling Haaland quiet during the 90 minutes.
Tino Livramento will play as the right-back while Llyod Kelly hopes to put in a solid performance on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will be instructed to be a good defensive shape so that they can limit the chances Man City create from the wide areas.
Emil Krafth and Kieran Trippier will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali will make up Newcastle’s midfield as they try to make life tough for the opposition in the middle of the park. All three of them need to work hard on protecting their backline and offer some decent service to the front players.
Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game in the second half if needed.
Attack
Harvey Barnes will try to catch the eye on the left flank while Anthony Gordon looks to make a difference as the right-winger. Alexander Isak will once again spearhead Howe’s attack down the middle. All three of them need to combine well if they want to cause some problems for the Man City defenders on the counter.
William Osula and Miguel Almiron will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if required.
