As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool are impressed with Sevilla defender Loic Bade. The Premier League club want to sign the youngster next summer as they look for some long-term reinforcement in the defensive section.
Who is Loic Bade?
Loic Bade represented the likes of Le Havre, Rennes, and Nottingham Forest before signing for Sevilla in the winter of 2023. His latest move helped him unleash a true version of himself. He impressed everyone in a short time, attracting a lot of attention.
Bade featured in 33 games last season and had one assist to his name. He averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, and 4 clearances per game (stats via whoscored). He was also part of the France squad that won Silver in the recent Olympics.
The French defender is a physically strong centre-back who reads the game well to intercept the threats. He has solid tackling ability and also marks an aerial dominance. He is a good carrier of the ball, showing his high self-confidence.
Liverpool need defensive additions even if Virgil van Dijk stays
Liverpool need reinforcement in the defensive unit as they haven’t replaced Joel Matip with anyone after his departure. On the other hand, the likes of Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate cannot be trusted due to their recurring fitness issues.
With Virgil van Dijk entering the twilight of his career, the Reds will have to replace him soon too. Hence, it makes sense for them to go after Loic Bade, who has immense potential. He has all the qualities to command control in the backline at Anfield.
Assuming the 24-year-old continues to add more dimensions to his game, he can be a solid long-term investment. Liverpool will have to shell out €60 million to acquire his services. The club might hesitate to spend that much for the youngster. Sevilla, on the other side, will try to keep the talent as they need to improve their performances.
