According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool are in the race alongside Arsenal and Newcastle United for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo. The former club are impressed with the player’s progress and want to invest early to get the dividends later.
The Rise of Bryan Mbeumo
After developing his initial game at Troyes AC, Bryan Mbeumo arrived at Brentford in the summer of 2019. As he got more opportunities coming his way, he grabbed them with both hands. He not only impressed everyone but also managed to cement his position.
Mbeumo continues to go from strength to strength in the Premier League. Last season, he netted nine goals and provided six assists in 27 games. He averaged 2.1 shots, 1.3 key passes, and 1 dribble per game (stats via whoscored).
The Cameroon attacker plays on the right wing and likes to cut in towards the goal to create threats. He is an excellent dribbler and has visionary passing skills. With strong finishing and the ability to convert set pieces, he is a talent to watch out for!
A replacement for Mohamed Salah?
Liverpool’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo makes sense as Mohmed Salah is in the final year of his contract. While the club might put a new offer for him on the table in the coming weeks, there is no guarantee that the player will sign him.
Salah has ample interest coming in from Saudi and if a lucrative deal arrives, he might prefer to leave Europe. Hence, the Reds are preparing for life with Salah. In that regard, Mbeumo could be a perfect fit on the right flank.
The Cameroon has a similar play style and he has already been hitting the ground in the Premier League. He can also serve the Anfield for many years to come. Liverpool will probably have to invest somewhere around £50 million to acquire his services.
