Arsenal had to settle for a goalless draw against Atalanta in their first Champions League fixture of the new season. Their focus now shifts towards the big challenge that lies against Manchester City in an away template this Sunday.
The Gunners are second on the domestic points table with 10 points in four outings. Should they manage to register a win against the Citizens, they will end the week as the table topper. However, it won’t be easy considering how strong Pep Guardiola’s side is at home.
4-3-3 Arsenal Predicted Lineup Vs Manchester City
Defence
David Raya saved Arsenal against Atalanta with an incredible double save. No doubt, he will again take the charge between the sticks.
While Ben White continues as the right-back, Jurrien Timber also retains his position in the left full-back role. Mikel Arteta has no reason to alter any of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes in the heart of the defence. The former will have a big role to play especially to keep Erling Haaland in check.
Midfield
Declan Rice’s return was a big boost for the Gunners especially in the absence of Martin Odegaard, who remains sidelined due to an ankle injury. It means Kai Havertz will operate in the middle of the park with Thomas Partey also supporting the duo.
Attack
Bukayo Saka produced threats on multiple occasions on Thursday night but couldn’t put the final product. His position in the lineup remains unchallenged.
While Gabriel Jesus is likely to get retained despite a below-par performance, Gabriel Martinelli should be warming the bench. Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling are the front-runners to fill his spot with the former having a little edge over the other.
Mikel Merino (shoulder), Oleksandr Zinchenko (calf), Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) and Kieran Tierney (hamstring) are confirmed absentees.
