West Ham United will entertain Chelsea at the London Stadium this Saturday afternoon as they hope to secure a victory at home in the Premier League. The Hammers were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham recently, so they would be eager to pick up a win in the London derby this weekend.
Julen Lopetegui will set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could make a couple of tweaks to his first XI for this game. Vladimir Coufal and Lucas Paqueta will get an opportunity to impress from the start of this clash.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Alphonse Areola will play in between the sticks for the Hammers after shipping in one goal in his last league outing. Konstantinos Mavropanos will feature alongside Max Kilman at the heart of Lopetegui’s backline as they try to keep the Chelsea attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Vladimir Coufal will fill in as the right-back while Aaron Wan-Bissaka gets a chance to prove his worth on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well and try to offer some decent support to the front players.
Aaron Cresswell and Jean-Clair Todibo will provide cover for the defensive positions on Lopetegui’s bench.
Midfield
Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez will operate as the holding midfielders for West Ham. Their main job would be to protect the backline and make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.
The talented trio of Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen will feature just ahead of them as part of Lopetegui’s attack. All three of them need to find a way to create some inviting chances in and around the Chelsea penalty box.
Tomas Soucek will be named on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second half if Lopetegui opts to call upon his services.
Attack
Michail Antonio will lead the line for the East London outfit up top. He would have to find a way to be a real nuisance in the final third.
Danny Ings will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if needed.
