According to Italian outlet Inter Live, Chelsea are interested in signing Inter Milan attacker Lautaro Martinez next summer. The Premier League club are considering offering three players in exchange to make the signing possible.
Lautaro Martinez is Inter Milan’s new leader
Lautaro Martinez joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2018 from Racing club. He took some time to settle down but didn’t look back since then. He emerged as one of their key players and established himself as a world-class striker.
Martinez scored 27 goals and provided seven assists in 44 games last season. He averaged 3.3 shots, 1.1 key passes, and 0.6 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He was also handed the captain armband ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
The Argentine striker is capable of adapting to different play styles. He is clinical with his finishes and also links up well with teammates. With great shooting abilities, aerial presence and even defensive contributions, he is a complete package.
Inter Milan to demand a high fee
Signing a new striker was already in Chelsea’s plan as they were not satisfied with Nicolas Jackson’s performances. They tried hard to bring highly-rated Victor Osimhen this summer but a deal didn’t go through due to financial complextions.
Though there is still a possibility of getting Osimhen next season, the Blues want to keep their options open. One of the names that attracts them in the market is Lautaro Martinez. He is a proven name with ample experience. His addition to the unit will surely help in adding more goals upfront.
However, Inter Milan are expected to demand around €100 million for the striker. To make the signing more feasible, Chelsea are planning to offer Benoit Badiashile, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Mykhailo Mudryk in exchange.
While the former two are likely to depart next summer, the latter hasn’t been convincing as well. It remains to be seen if the Italian club will entertain such an offer or not.
