According to TBR, Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, whose rise has caught attention. The Premier League club continue to look for a striker in the market after failing to add anyone this summer.
Victor Boniface delivered excellent numbers
Victor Boniface arrived at Bayer Leverkusen last summer from Union SG. Though he didn’t have a regular starting spot, his performances coming off the bench cannot be ignored too. He played a crucial role in the German side’s success last season.
Boniface scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 games last season. He averaged 3.5 shots, 1 key pass, and 2 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Nigerian striker is known for his dribbling abilities and strong finishing. He is also good at winning aerial battles and providing accurate passes. However, he needs to work on his offside awareness and holding onto the ball.
Victor Boniface is a viable option
Chelsea wanted to sign an upgrade of Nicolas Jackson this summer and they were heavily linked with Victor Osimhen. The club wanted to sign the Napoli striker but failed to do so due to complications in the negotiations. The player finally went on to join Galatasaray as a loanee.
The Blues continue to remain in contact with Osimhen as they are exploring ways to unite. The English giant understands that they will have to offer a big sum in the winter to sign him. Hence, they want to keep other options open too.
Chelsea are also showing interest in Victor Boniface, whose rise has been incredible recently. He remains an integral part of Bayer Leverkusen but the Bundesliga club will be ready to offload him if a good offer arrives. He will be a cheaper affair for the Blues compared to Osimhen.
The 23-year-old has the qualities to serve at Stamford Bridge for many years to come. It will be interesting to see whom the club go for in the coming months.
