As per a report published in TBR Football, Chelsea are interested in signing Stoke City midfielder Souleymane Sidibe. The former club are impressed with the youngster’s progress and want to sign him early to get the dividends early.
Who is Souleymane Sidibe?
Souleymane Sidibe is the son of former Stokes striker Mamady. He is one of the highly-rated young midfielders in English football. He broke into the senior side of Stoke City last season and has taken huge strides since then.
Sidibe featured in 26 games last season and could score only one goal. However, in the process, he provided seven assists. He also represents England on the international level in the Under-18s group.
The Englishman is a box-to-box midfielder who can contribute in both aspects of the game. He likes to control the tempo of the game and showcase his technical skills on the ball. He likes to provide progressive passes and initiate attacks.
Souleymane Sidibe is a talent to watch out for
Chelsea have taken an aggressive stance in signing young talents across the globe over the past few seasons. Hence, their interest in Souleymane Sidibe should surprise nobody. The idea will be once the same – integrating the youngster in the academy and nourishing him for future use.
If the player proves his talent at the highest level, the Blues will provide him with chances in the senior side. Else, they will look to offload him and book a profit. From the player’s point of view, joining Stamford Bridge should be a lucrative deal.
It will allow Sidibe to come into the limelight and feature amongst some of the best in the world. However, the lack of game time could hinder his growth in the long run. It will be interesting to see what approach both parties with Arsenal also interested in getting a deal.
