Chelsea Are Leading Race For This Monaco Rising Star: What Will He Bring?

As reported by CaughtOffside, Chelsea are leading the race for Monaco right-back Vanderson. The Premier League are keen on acquiring his services next summer but is set to face stiff competition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Vanderson is a quality talent

Vanderson started his professional career with Gremio before moving to Monaco in the winter window of 2022. As he found opportunities coming his way, he utilized them effectively. He has managed to not only cement his spot but also position himself as one of the brightest prospects in League 1.

Vanderson featured in 23 games last season, netting thrice and assisting once. He averaged 3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, and 1.8 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).

The Brazilian plays as a right-back but can also operate on the wings. He is solid with his defensive contributions and ball interceptions. He likes to press high and also join the attack whenever possible as he is capable of providing key passes.

Vanderson can be a good option for Chelsea

Chelsea’s interest in Vanderson makes sense as they have suffered at the right-back position for some time. The recurring fitness issues with Reece James aren’t new to anyone. Though Malo Gusto has succeeded well in the concerned position, adding another quality option won’t be a bad idea.

Vanderson is a solid performer with a lot of potential. He has the ability to serve at Stamford Bridge for many years to come. For him, joining the Blues should be a lucrative decision as it will allow him to evolve his game further and reach new heights.

Reportedly, Monaco wants around €35-40m to sanction the transfer of the 23-year-old. The amount seems a bit overpriced but the player has the talent to justify the tag going forward. It will be interesting if Chelsea will make a move next summer or not as a few other clubs are also keeping tabs on the youngster.
