In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Barcelona are planning to offer Lamine Yamal a new contract. It has been stated that the Catalan club are eager to tie the Spain international down to a new deal that will keep him at the Nou Camp until 2030.
Yamal’s Brilliant Form In La Liga This Season
Yamal has enjoyed a rich vein of form at the Spanish club as he has already put in a string of influential displays for them in the final third. The Spanish youngster has scored three goals and grabbed four assists in five appearances for Barca this season across multiple competitions.
The 17-year-old has been an excellent contributor in the opposition half based on his average of 3.2 shots, 2.4 key passes and 3.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been careful when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 80.3% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Catalan club will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona are planning to tie him down to a new contract.
Barcelona Are Planning To Offer Yamal A New Contract: Good Move For Both Parties?
Yamal is a great dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range.
The Spanish whizkid can also create some inviting chances for others around him on the offensive third of the field. He mainly operates as a right-winger but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if told to do so.
At the moment, Yamal is one of the first names in Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s teamsheet. He is amongst the best young players in European football. Thus, the Catalan giants would do well to secure his long-term future by tying him down to a new contract soon.
At 17, Yamal has the potential to be a generational talent. Hence, getting his long-term future sorted would be a good move for both the player and the Catalan club as they look to bring some success to the Nou Camp in the coming years.
