In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are keeping a keen eye on Adrien Rabiot who is a free agent at the moment. It is believed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the France international on a free transfer this month.
Rabiot’s Impressive Run Of Form At The Allianz Stadium Last Season
Rabiot enjoyed a solid campaign at Juventus recently after he put in a series of impressive performances at the centre of their midfield. The 29-year-old registered five goals and earned three assists in 35 matches for the Turin outfit last season across all competitions.
The French midfield ace was a decent performer at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.2 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in Serie A football. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 84.4% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Rabiot is a free agent at the moment which makes him an affordable option for Barcelona to consider this summer.
Will Rabiot Be A Good Option For Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick?
Rabiot is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side in the middle of the park. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
The France international can shoot the ball with power from long range and is a good dribbler as well. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect Rabiot to add more quality and experience to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s midfield. He is more than capable of fighting for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp this season.
At 29, Rabiot is still playing in his prime which makes him a decent option for the Catalan club to consider this summer. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Spain.
