In a recent report, Aslinda claimed that Aston Villa made a move to land Besiktas winger Semih Kilicsoy earlier this summer. It is believed that the Villans launched a €15m to sign the Turkish youngster recently.
Kilicsoy’s Impressive Rise In Turkish Football
Kilicsoy had a fruitful campaign at the Turkish club recently as he managed to put in a string of productive displays for them in the final third. The 19-year-old scored 12 goals and grabbed three assists in 35 matches for Besiktas last season across multiple competitions.
The talented teenager has been a decent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.5 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. However, he was a bit untidy when distributing the ball after making 71.6% of his attempted passes in the Turkish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turkish club will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Villans to sign him on the cheap next year.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Go Back For Kilicsoy?
Kilicsoy is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field.
The Turkish talent is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. Kilicsoy is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a centre-forward if told to do so by his manager. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if Aston Villa manage to bring him on board in 2025.
Kilicsoy is already good enough to challenge for a regular starting place at Villa Park. At 19, the Turkish sensation has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, Unai Emery would be wise to go all out to lure him to the West Midlands club in the future.
Kilicsoy might even help the Villans challenge across all fronts over the next few years. Thus, Emery should go back for the Turkish whizkid this January or at the end of this campaign.
