In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Aston Villa are locked in a three-way battle for Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram. It has been stated that the Villans would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid in the race to land the French striker next year.
Thuram’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season
Thuram has made an impressive start to this campaign as he has put in a run of impressive displays for Inter in the final third. The 27-year-old has banged in four goals and grabbed a couple of assists in six matches for the Italian giants this season across all fronts.
The France international has been a decent performer on the offensive end of the field based on his average of 2.8 shots and 1.0 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A football. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution after making just 73.1% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Milan club will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Villans to snap him up on the cheap next year.
Will Thuram Be A Good Fit For Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery?
Thuram is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create a few promising chances for others around him in the opposition half. However, the French talent has to figure out a way to improve his link-up play up top if he wants to taste success at the highest level.
Standing at 1.92, Thuram can be a towering presence in the final third. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Villans manage to get him on board next year.
Thuram would add more firepower to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s attack. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Villa Park in the coming years. At 27, Thuram is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent fit for the West Midlands club‘s needs in the short-term.
