In a recent tweet, Atenção, Vascaínos! claimed that Aston Villa are facing tough competition for Vasco da Gama winger Rayan. It has been stated that the Villans would have to compete with FC Porto, Real Betis, AC Milan and Fiorentina in pursuit of the Brazilian wide player.
Rayan’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football
Rayan came through the youth ranks of Vasco da Gama and has done well to establish himself as a regular member of their senior team. The 18-year-old has already made 32 appearances for the Brazilian club, scoring three times and securing one assist in all competitions.
The Brazilian talent has seen most of his game time come off the bench but deserves credit for averaging 1.0 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution after completing 73.9% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Rayan is under contract at the Brazilian club until the end of 2025 which could open the door for Aston Villa to snap him up on a cut-price deal in the January transfer window.
