In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Aston Villa are among the clubs hoping to sign Yusuf Yazici who is currently a free agent. It has been stated that the Villans are facing competition in the form of Crystal Palace, Brentford and AFC Bournemouth in the race to land the Turkish playmaker.
Yazici’s Good Form In Ligue 1 Last Season
The 27-year-old enjoyed a decent season at Lille recently as he produced a run of eye-catching performances for them on the offensive end of the field. Yazici found the back of the net 12 times and secured four assists in 42 appearances for the French outfit in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Turkish sensation deserves some credit for averaging 1.5 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in Ligue 1 football. He was even accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 79.2% of his attempted passes in the French first division (stats via whoscored).
Yazici is currently a free agent which makes him an affordable option for the Villans to consider this month.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Go For Yazici?
Yazici is a good dribbler with the ball and has got the eye to cut open the opposition defence with a killer pass in the final third. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can contribute by scoring a handful of important goals for his team.
The Turkish talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a right-winger or as a centre-forward if told to do so by his manager. However, he might struggle to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Aston Villa manage to get him on board.
Yazici would inject more quality into Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attack. He would undoubtedly increase competition for places within the West Midlands club‘s squad. At 27, Yazici is playing in his prime which makes him a decent option for the Villans to consider this month.
With all things considered, Aston Villa should think about going for a player of his skillset as he is available on a free transfer right now. At the very least, he would help the Villans compete across all fronts in the coming seasons.
