In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that Aston Villa are among the clubs eager to land Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. It has been mentioned that the Villans would have to compete with Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to land the Cameroonian wide player next year.
Mbeumo’s Impressive Form In English Football Last Season
Mbeumo enjoyed a good campaign with the Bees recently as he was responsible for putting in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 25-year-old scored nine times and secured six assists in 27 matches for Brentford last season in multiple competitions.
The Cameroonian sensation was a reliable performer on the right flank based on his average of 2.1 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 72.3% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the English club will run out in the summer of 2026 which could open the door for the Villans to sign him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Get Mbeumo On Board?
Mbeumo can engineer some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Cameroonian talent can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the right flank. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a centre-forward if needed.
Mbeumo would inject more firepower into Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at Villa Park in the coming years. At 25, the best is yet to come from Mbeumo, so the Villans would do well to recruit him in 2025.
The Cameroonian attacker has got enough experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the West Midlands club. Thus, Emery would be wise to get him on board next year.
