In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard is generating interest from Saudi Arabia. It has been revealed that Al Ittihad have made an offer of around €35m to sign the Belgian wide player from the Gunners.
Trossard’s Decent Form In North London Last Season
Trossard had an impressive campaign at the North London club as he put in a series of productive displays for them in the final third. The Belgian talent was involved in 46 matches for the Gunners last season, scoring 17 times and picking up two assists across all fronts.
The 29-year-old was a good contributor in the opponent’s half and did well to average 1.8 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He even distributed the ball relatively well after making 78.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Trossard is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2026. Hence, the Gunners are in no immediate need to let him go.
Can Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Afford To Lose Trossard?
Trossard is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. The Belgian sensation can even shoot the ball with venom and precision from long range. He can even chip in by scoring his fair share of goals up top.
Trossard is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play in the number ten position or as a centre-forward if told to do so. He is currently an important member of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s squad.
At 29, Trossard is playing in his prime, so the Gunners cannot afford to lose him right now. Arteta should rather keep hold of him as he could help the North London club challenge for some major honours in the not-too-distant.
Trossard has still got a couple of years left in his Arsenal contract. Thus, it makes no sense for the London giants to cash in on him even if they receive a favourable offer from Saudi Arabia.
