Arsenal Summer Transfer Review 2024: Has Mikel Arteta Added Enough Quality?

Arsenal used the summer transfer window really well to bolster their overall squad. Last season, they missed the Premier League by a whisker and would not want to repeat the game. Mikel Arteta must have solidified all the areas he felt the need to.

Arsenal’s Summer Arrivals

Riccardo Calafiori

Arsenal made their biggest signing in the form of Riccardo Calafiori who cost $54 million. His addition will add depth and a lot of value to the defensive pack. It will ensure that the Gunners are not sort of options going deep into the season.

Mikel Merino

Arsenal needed to add more quality in the middle of the park and they did that with the signing of Mikel Merino for $41 million from Real Sociedad. His skills and experience will definitely help the side.

David Raya

David Raya‘s signing was an interesting move given the English giants already had two world-class goalkeepers. However, they decided to loan him out this season to Brentford.

Raheem Sterling

Arsenal decided to bring Raheem Sterling on a loan deal on the last day of the summer window. The transfer looked a bit unnecessary but who knows what the future holds.

Arsenal’s Notable Summer Departures

Emile Smith Rowe – Fulham for $43.7m

Eddie Nketiah – Crystal Palace for €30m

David Raya – Brentford on loan

Aaron Ramsdale – Southampton for €25m

Has Mikel Arteta Added Enough Quality To His Arsenal Squad?

Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal were one the most consistent and dangerous sides across Europe. They were just a bit unlucky not to be able to pull it off towards the business end of the season. Talking about the qualities and depth, they didn’t lack anywhere.

However, the Gunners have addressed the shortcomings and tried their best to strengthen them. They look like a complete team who can give neck-to-neck competition to all the sides.
