In a recent report, The Athletic revealed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Ajax prospect Jorrel Hato. It has been stated that the Gunners are monitoring the Dutch teenager ahead of a potential move for him in the future.
Hato’s Impressive Rise In Dutch Football
The 18-year-old has already managed to establish himself as an important member of Ajax’s backline and deserves a lot of credit for putting in a run of impressive displays for them in the Dutch Eredivisie. Hato made 46 appearances for the Dutch outfit last season, scoring one goal and grabbing three assists in all competitions.
The talented teenager was a rock at the back for Ajax based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 3.2 clearances per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from inside his half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 92.5% in the top tier of Dutch football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Amsterdam club will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Gunners to snap him up on the cheap next year.
Arsenal Are Keeping Tabs On Hato: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Hato is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Dutch sensation is proficient at playing his way out from the back. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to adjust to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football
We can expect Hato to add more quality to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s defence in the long run. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.
At 18, Hato has the potential to be a generational talent, so the Gunners would do well to get him on board. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future and would be a great, long-term option for the North London club to consider in 2025.
