In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Arsenal are keen admirers of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. It is believed that the Gunners are hoping to move in for the Swedish talent who has still not penned a new deal with the Magpies.
Isak’s Impressive Record In English Football Last Season
Isak enjoyed a fine run of form at the Tyneside club after he put in a run of impressive displays as the focal point of their attack. The 24-year-old scored 25 goals and secured two assists in 40 matches for Newcastle last season across all fronts.
The Swedish talent proved his worth in the final third as he averaged 2.6 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even careful when interchanging possession with his teammates in the opposition half after completing 80% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Newcastle will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Gunners to snap him up on a cut-price deal next year.
What Will Isak Bring To Arsenal?
Isak excels at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has proven himself to be an accomplished finisher in the final third and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top.
The Sweden international can even make a few clever runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can even use his powerful 1.92m frame to hold possession up for his team in the opposition half.
Isak would bring a lot of goals to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.
At 24, Isak has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Gunners to pursue in the long run. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Emirates Stadium. Therefore, Arteta would be wise to step up his efforts to land Isak when the transfer window reopens this January.
