In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus mentioned that Arsenal are confident about recruiting Red Bull Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko next year. It has been revealed that the Gunners are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Slovenian striker.
Sesko’s Impressive Run Of Form In German Football
Sesko enjoyed a fruitful campaign at the German club recently after he put in a series of impressive performances for them in front of the opposition goal. The 21-year-old banged in 18 goals and earned a couple of assists in 42 matches for RB Leipzig last season across all fronts.
The talented youngster caught the eye at times on the offensive end of the field as he averaged 1.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. However, he lacked quality when distributing possession deep inside the opponent’s half after completing 66.6% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2029. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.
What Will Sesko Bring To Arsenal?
Sesko is a good dribbler with the ball and can strike the ball with power from long range. He has also got the eye to create some inviting chances for others around him in the final third when playing well on the field but needs to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.
The Slovenia international has proven himself to be a capable finisher in the Bundesliga. Standing at 1.95m, he can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels in the opponent’s half. However, there are some concerns over whether Sesko would be able to maintain his good form in the Premier League if Arsenal manage to get him on board in 2025.
Sesko would bring more firepower to Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the North London club. Therefore, the Gunners should focus on going all out to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this January or at the end of this campaign.
