West Ham United will face off against Liverpool at Anfield this Wednesday night as they try to grind out a good result on the road in the EFL Cup. The Hammers suffered a poor 3-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea recently, so they would be eager to bounce back with a good performance in midweek.
Julen Lopetegui will opt for the 4-1-4-1 formation and could be inclined to make a lot of changes to his first team for this cup game. Michail Antonio is expected to lead the line for the East London club up top.
4-1-4-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski will function in goal for West Ham as he looks to put in a good performance for them at Anfield this week. Jean-Clair Todibo will operate alongside Max Kilman at the centre of Lopetegui’s backline as they focus on keeping a good shape on the defensive end of the pitch.
Vladimir Coufal will hope to prove his worth as the right-back while Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks to give a good account of himself on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them would be instructed to perform their defensive duties well this Wednesday night.
Konstantinos Mavropanos will be named on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Edson Alvarez will operate as the defensive midfielder for the Hammers while both James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek fill in as the box-to-box midfielders. All three of them need to work hard in making life tough for the home side at the centre of the park.
Crysencio Summerville will hope to shine as the left-sided wide player while Jarrod Bowen looks to put his pace to good use on the right flank. Both of them have to figure out a way to get in behind the Liverpool backline at every chance they get.
Lucas Paqueta and Guido Rodriguez will be rested on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Michail Antonio will lead the charge for West Ham up top. He would be eager to make himself useful by causing a few headaches for the opposition centre-backs this week.
