Newcastle United will face off against Wimbledon at the Cherry Red Records Stadium this Tuesday night as they look to secure a victory in the EFL Cup. The Magpies suffered a poor 3-1 loss away at Fulham recently, so they would be eager to bounce back with a positive result in midweek.
Eddie Howe will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his first XI for this cup game. Miguel Almiron, Sandro Tonali and Emil Krafth could get a chance to play from the start of this contest.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Wimbledon
Defence
Nick Pope will feature in between the sticks for the Magpies after he conceded three goals in his last outing. Dan Burn will function alongside Emil Krafth at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Kieran Trippier will fill in as the right-back while Lewis Hall hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.
Fabian Schar will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Joe Willock, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali will make up Newcastle’s midfield as they focus on establishing their dominance over the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them need to be at their best if the Magpies are to secure a convincing win at the Cherry Red Records Stadium this Tuesday night.
Bruno Guimaraes will be rested on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Harvey Barnes will look to put his pace to good use on the left flank while Miguel Almiron hopes to impress as the right-sided wide player. Alexander Isak will lead the line for Newcastle down the middle. He failed to register a goal against Fulham and would be eager to find the back of the net in this EFL Cup clash.
Anthony Gordon will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
