In a recent report, journalist Rudy Galetti claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke this summer. It has been mentioned that Spurs are showing interest in signing the English forward in this transfer window.
Solanke’s Impressive Numbers In The Premier League
Solanke put in a series of productive displays as the spearhead of Bournemouth’s attack in the previous campaign. The Basingstoke-born talent banged in 21 goals and grabbed four assists in 42 matches for the Cherries last season across all fronts.
The 26-year-old gave a good account of himself on the offensive end of the field as he averaged 2.9 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he lacked quality when distributing the ball deep inside the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 73.7% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Vitality Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Solanke Up This Summer?
Solanke can create some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and has proven himself to be a capable finisher up top. Standing at 1.86m, Solanke is a strong presence in the air as well.
The English striker is also quite clever when making runs in behind the opposition backline. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution if he wants to taste success at a top club like Tottenham.
Solanke would add a lot of goals to Spurs head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 26, Solanke has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent fit for Tottenham‘s needs this summer. Thus, Postecoglu should focus on going all out to snap him up in this summer transfer period. He already knows the Premier League well and could help the North London club challenge for some major honours in the future.
