In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Real Madrid playmaker Arda Guler is on the radar of Newcastle United this summer. It has been stated that the Magpies are showing interest in signing the Turkey international from Los Blancos this off-season.
Guler’s Injury Troubles In Spanish Football Last Season
Guler missed a lot of games for Real Madrid last season due to injuries. However, he did manage to catch the eye at times for them in the final third. The Turkish youngster deserves some credit for scoring six goals in ten league matches for Los Blancos in the previous campaign.
The 19-year-old has been a decent contributor in the final third as he averaged 1.5 shots and 1.1 dribbles per game in La Liga. He was even tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 88.2% in the Spanish top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2029. Hence, there is no immediate need for Los Blancos to cash in on Guler in this transfer window.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Cut Guler Loose This Summer?
Guler can find some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from outside the penalty area and is a decent dribbler as well.
The Turkish talent can make some driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half and can chip in by scoring some important goals for his team. He is a tidy passer of the ball but needs to find a way to steer clear of injuries in the coming years if he wants to fulfill his true potential.
At 19, Guler has the making of a top talent and could prove to be a decent contributor at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. When fit, he remains a valuable member of Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s match-day squad.
Furthermore, Guler has the skill set to play a crucial role for Los Blancos in the upcoming campaign. Therefore, Ancelotti would be wise not to cut him loose this summer as he has the ceiling to be a success story at the Madrid club in the long run.
