In a recent report, Minuto1 (via AS) stated that Real Madrid have set their sights on Penarol talent German Barbas. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are keeping tabs on the Uruguayan midfielder.
Barbas’ Impressive Rise In Uruguayan Football
The 16-year-old came through the youth ranks of Penarol and did well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. Barbas has made one senior appearance for his current employers so far.
The talented teenager has caught the eye at times with his performances in Uruguayan football. At the moment, he is one of the most promising young midfielders in South America, so Real Madrid would do well to snap him up this summer.
His current contract at Penarol will run out at the end of 2026. Thus, Los Blancos would find it difficult to land him on a cut-price deal this summer.
Real Madrid Have Set Their Sights On Barbas: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Barbas is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create some meaningful openings for his teammates up top. He is a pure striker of the ball as well. However, the Uruguayan starlet is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Still, there is no denying that he has the potential to be a future star in Europe as long as he continues to improve with each season.
Barbas mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so by his manager. He has already begun to showcase what he is capable of at Penarol. Hence, Los Blancos should focus on bringing the gifted starlet to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in this summer transfer window.
At 16, Barbas is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future. However, he is currently too inexperienced to break into the Madrid club’s first XI. Still, Ancelotti would be the ideal man to unlock the best out of the talented youngster. With all things considered, Real Madrid would be wise to move in for the Uruguayan prospect ahead of the new campaign as he would be a terrific signing for them in the long run.
