According to Spanish outlet MARCA, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to bring Rodrygo from Real Madrid this summer. The Spanish manager believes that the Brazilian attacker would be a perfect replacement for Julian Alvarez, who has left for Atletico Madrid.
Rodrygo has produced world-class stats
A highly-rated talent at Santos, Rodrygo was signed by Real Madrid in the summer of 2018. As he found opportunities in his way, he impressed everyone with his skills and potential. Fair to say that he has already established himself as one of the best attackers in world football at present.
Rodrygo played an instrumental role in Real Madrid’s success last season. He featured in 51 games, netting 17 goals and providing nine assists. He averaged 2.6 shots, 1.4 key passes, and 1.6 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Brazilian attacker can be employed in any position on the front line. He is known for his speed, dribbling, trickery, and creativity. He can create chances for his teammates as well as provide the finishing touches himself around the penalty box.
Rodrygo doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid
As Julian Alvarez has left for Atletico Madrid, Manchester City are tempted to sign a new attacker to replace him. Though they have already added Savinho to their ranks, boss Pep Guardiola still dreams of bringing Rodrygo to Etihad Stadium this summer.
It makes sense as Rodrygo is versatile and can feature in multiple positions. His arrival will surely help the Premier League champions add more goals upfront. However, it will be tough to sign him considering the fact that Real Madrid aren’t desperate to offload anyone.
On the other hand, the 23-year-old is also not keen on leaving the Whites this season. But with the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, his involvement might get restricted at some point in time. It’s now up to Pep and the Citizens if they can change Rodrygo’s mind or not.
