In a recent report, Tutto Juve mentioned that Newcastle United are prepared to move in for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer. It has been revealed that the Magpies are ready to launch a €20m move to acquire the services of the Italy international in this transfer window.
Chiesa’s Good Run Of Form In Italian Football Last Season
Chiesa had a decent campaign at the Turin club recently as he managed to put in a handful of eye-catching displays for them in the final third. The Genova-born talent made 37 appearances for Juve last season, finding the back of the net ten times and picking up three assists in all competitions.
The 26-year-old proved his worth on the left flank by averaging 2.3 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after making 77.3% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Italian club will expire at the end of next season which could give Newcastle a chance to sign him on the cheap this month.
Is Chiesa A Decent Fit For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
Chiesa can make some clever runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and can strike the ball with venom and precision from long range. The Italian talent can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. However, he needs to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opponent’s goal.
Chiesa is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-sided wide player or as a striker down the middle if required. We can expect him to enhance the quality of Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s first XI.
At 26, Chiesa is about to enter his prime which makes him a good fit for the Tyneside club‘s needs in the short term. However, it remains to be seen whether the Italy interception can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if the Magpies manage to snap him up this summer.
