When it comes to the Scottish Premiership, Celtic are in a league of their own in recent years. They began their campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win against Kilmarnock and the streak continued this afternoon with a commanding 2-0 victory while locking horns with Hibernian at Easter Road.
Below are the Celtic players rated in their 2-0 win against Hibernian.
Kasper Schmeichel: 6.5
Was fortunate not to concede when Kieron Bowie hit the bar late into the game. But the veteran Danish custodian was hardly tested otherwise with little threat from Hibs attack.
Alistair Johnston: 7
Balanced his game between defence and attack. Whipped in crosses and long balls from the right-hand flank and eventually made way for Anthony Ralston with 10 minutes remaining.
Cameron Carter-Vickers: 8.5
Showed his composure and calmness on the ball while playing it out from the back. Was spot-on with his tackles and the USMNT centre-back also won the majority of duels.
Liam Scales: 8
Despite being cautioned early into the game for a foul on Mykola Kukharevych, the Irishman exhibited his command and resilience while partnering Carter-Vickers into the heart of the backline. Made some swift recoveries and no-nonsense clearances.
Greg Taylor: 7.5
Was relentless down the left with his overlapping runs, crosses, cut-insides and link-up play with James Forrest. Also showed his commitment at the back with timely tackles, duels and recoveries.
Callum McGregor: 9
The Scotsman scored a stunner as he collected the ball from Kuhn in the inside-right channel, made a forward stride and then hit a thunderous shot from nearly 30 yards out to double the lead around the 18th-minute mark. Had another deflected effort denied by the woodwork early into the second half.
Matt O’Riley: 7.5
Dominated the midfield game with his box-to-box movements. Forced Josef Bursik to make multiple saves in Hibs’ goal. His vision and passing game refrained the home side from dominating the midfield show.
Reo Hatate: 7
His swift runs and one-twos often caused menace in the Hibernian defence. Could have offered more in terms of work rate. Made way for Paulo Bernardo with 15 minutes remaining.
Nicolas Kuhn: 8.5
Continued his blistering form as he found the net soon after the kick-off before registering an assist for McGregor’s long-range spectacular. Made way for Yang Hyun-jun late in the outing.
James Forrest: 7
Set it up for the Kuhn who made no mistake to find the target. Showed his experience and expertise before being replaced by Daizen Maeda around the hour mark.
Kyogo Furuhashi: 6.5
His initial effort was denied by Bursik which eventually resulted in Kuhn’s goal. Made way for Mikey Johnston late in the contest.
