Manchester United To Submit Offer For This Everton Star This Week: What Will He Bring?

As published on Football Insider, Manchester United are prepared to place a bid of around £60 million for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this week. The former club is also confident of getting the deal done and acquiring the youngster.

Jarrad Branthwaite is an elite defender in making

The 2023-24 season proved to be a breakthrough campaign for Jarrad Branthwaite. He was a bench warmer at the start of the season. However, as Everton struggled to keep things tight at the backline, he was eventually given an opportunity.

Banking on the chances, Branthwaite turned up as one of the best performers for the club. He featured in 41 games and netted thrice. He averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, and 4.5 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).

The English defender is physically strong, and fast, has good reach, and marks an aerial dominance. He remains calm under pressure and makes good interceptions. Though he is left-footed, he can feature on both sides of the centre-back positions.

Jarrad Branthwaite will be a top pick

Manchester United have visibly done well in the transfer market to prepare for next season. They have a solid group and can compete with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal. However, there is still room for improvement.

The Red Devils want to fill those gaps as they look to make an official offer for Jarrad Branthwaite. Erik Ten Hag‘s side struggled in the defensive section badly last season. Hence, they want to leave no stone unturned to line up a solid structure.

Branthwaite, who was excellent in the previous season, can help Manchester United a lot. His presence in the backline will help the side in the defensive solidity. As he is just 22 years old, he can be a long-term investment for the club.

It remains to be seen if Everton will accept the offer if placed. Reportedly, they value the talented defender at £80 million.
