Manchester United Offer Star Player To Sign This Barcelona Midfielder: Good Move?

As reported by Football365, Manchester United have offered €20m and Jadon Sancho to Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong. As the English international isn’t in the plans of Erik ten Hag, the club want to offload him and bring the Dutch midfielder to the service.

Frenkie de Jong has been neither outstanding nor dull

Frenkie de Jong came into the limelight during his stint at Ajax. As a result, Barcelona spent money to sign him in the summer of 2019. While the player hasn’t lived up to the expectations, he has done decently well whenever he took onto the field.

de Jong has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons. He featured in 30 games last season and provided two assists. He averaged 1.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 1 clearance per game (stats via whoscored).

The Dutch midfielder is a versatile pick in the middle of the park. He can play a pivotal role as well as advance forward to contribute directly to the offence. He is press resistance and extremely good at distributing the possession.

Jadon Sancho wants to leave Manchester United

Manchester United’s interest in Frenkie de Jong isn’t new. They attempted to sign him last season too but the player decided against joining them. However, that hasn’t kept the English outfit away from making another try as Erik ten Hag admires the player a lot.

de Jong and Ten Hag worked together at Ajax and they were extremely successful. With Casemiro being an unreliable pick, the Red Devils need someone who can provide solidity in the middle of the park. For that role, the 27-year-old fits in well.

Manchester United are ready to let go of Jadon Sancho as he isn’t in the scheme of things for this season. He was even excluded from both squads for Fulham and Brighton fixtures. It clearly indicates that Sancho has no place at Old Trafford.
