According to TNT Sports Brazil, Premier League club Manchester United are in contact with Fluminense defensive midfielder Andre Trindade’s camp to discuss a possible summer move as they look to strengthen the midfield.
Who is Andre Trindade?
Andre Trindade is one of the brightest prospects to come out of Fluminense’s Academy in recent years. The player made his senior team debut in 2020. Since then, he has been climbing up the ladders in the squad step by step.
Trindade appears regularly on the team sheet. He featured in 28 games last season for the Brazilian outfit. He found the back of the net once and also provided an assist in the process.
The Brazilian midfielder is known for his defensive contributions on the field. He is excellent at tackling, reads the game well and makes good interceptions. He likes to control the tempo of the game and doesn’t advance too much.
Manchester United unlikely to sign Andre Trindade this summer
Manchester United understand the need for reinforcement in the midfield if they want to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. As Casemiro is past his prime and an unreliable option now, it’s a no-brainer that they need a replacement for him.
Andre Trindade is an attractive option because of his immense potential and talent. However, the Red Devils might prefer not to make an official move for him. It makes sense as they are close to signing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
Earlier, Manchester United had little hope of getting Ugarte’s deal through and hence, they started looking for alternatives in the market. However, there has been massive progress in the negotiations for the PSG star and both parties are expected to strike an agreement soon.
In that case, the English outfit will have no reason to acquire Trindade this summer. They might return in future if needed.
