According to SPORT, Premier League club Manchester United are interested in signing Barcelona winger Raphinha as they look to replace Antony, who is close to being pushed out of the club before the summer window closes.
Raphinha was brilliant last season
Raphinha arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from Leed United. He came with a lot of expectations, which he has failed to deliver. However, one can’t deny the fact that he has been one of the most effective players on the field despite playing an unnatural role.
Especially last season, Raphinha was arguably Barcelona’s best attacker. He scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 37 games. He averaged 2.7 shots, 1.2 key passes, and 1.1 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Brazilian winger primarily plays on the right wing but can also operate as a left winger. He can dribble, provide key passes, and provide finishing. His high work rate and defensive contributions cannot be ignored either.
Will Manchester United move their cards for Raphinha?
Manchester United want to sign Raphinha to replace Antony as the latter isn’t in the plans for next season. The pursuit surely makes sense as the Barcelona winger also plays in a similar role. With prior Premier League experience, he would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford.
Though Raphinha has expressed his will to stay at the Spanish Giant this season, his mind can be changed. As he is no longer a guaranteed starter in the lineup, joining the Red Devils shouldn’t be a bad option at all. He will get a prominent role there and maybe a better salary as well.
Barcelona are reportedly ready to cash in on the 27-year-old as it will allow them to sign a natural left winger. Should Manchester United match their asking price, the deal can happen very quickly.
