Manchester United are heavily linked to PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte. As per the latest reports by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League are discussing a loan move with a mandatory purchase clause for the PSG player.
Manuel Ugarte is open to leave PSG
Manuel Ugarte is a highly talented defender in the world of football at present. He made a switch to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Sporting CP last summer, which hasn’t worked well for him. Hence, he is willing to leave France before the next season.
Ugarte appeared in 37 games last season, where he ended up assisting three goals. He averaged 3.4 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, and 1 clearance per game (stats via whoscored). Despite a below-par campaign recently, his stakes remain high in the market.
The Urguian is well-known for his defensive contributions on the field. He is excellent at tackling and interceptions to win the possession back. With accurate passing and aerial dominance, he is an asset for his side.
Manchester United want to offload Casemiro
Manchester United are in the transfer market looking for a defensive midfielder. They have Casemiro at their disposal but he was pathetic last season. Hence, the club want to get rid of him and sign a fresh name who can help them in the backline.
The Red Devils leaked a lot of goals in the 2023-24 season and they understand the fact they cannot win the title with such a sloppy defence. Hence, they are focusing on improving that area before the next season kicks in.
A move in that direction, Manchester United are making advance moves for Manuel Ugarte. The 23-year-old is a complete defensive midfielder who will provide solidity in the middle of the park. As he performs a similar role, he would be a fitting option to fill Casemiro’s place.
It remains to be seen if PSG will allow Ugate to leave on a deal or not. The English outfit, however, are also keeping their other options open if they fail to sign him.
