As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are accelerating their efforts to sign Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu. The Premier League club even held talks with the player’s agent to discuss a possible summer move.
Who is Ferdi Kadioglu?
Ferdi Kadioglu signed for Fenerbahce from NEC in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength. He has made massive progress as a footballer and is now an integral part of the team setup.
Kadioglu featured in 51 games last season, netting thrice and providing five assists. He averaged 3.2 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, and 1.8 clearances per game (stats via whoscored). His performances haven’t gone unnoticed as several clubs are keeping an eye on him.
The Turkish is solid with his defensive contributions and mainly plays as a left full-back. However, he can also play on the left wing given that he has good attacking sense. With dribbling ability, accurate passing, and strong finishes, he is a quality player.
Manchester United want to sign a left-back
Manchester United are hoping to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool next season. Hence, they are formulating a solid group to be able to fight for all the trophies. One of the areas they still need to strengthen is the left-back position.
Luke Shaw has his own struggles with fitness and Tyrell Malacia, on the other hand, hasn’t featured for the club over the past 18 months. Hence, the Red Devils want to sign Ferdi Kadioglu to possess enough options for the concerned role.
Kadioglu has the ability to provide defensive solidity in the backline as well as be involved in the offensive buildup. His versatility and creativity will bring a lot of value to the group. As he is just 24 years old, he can serve at Old Trafford for many years to come.
