In a recent report, The Athletic (subscription required) stated that Manchester City have held talks for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze. However, Pep Guardiola’s side have still not made a concrete move for the English talent this summer.
Eze’s Impressive Campaign In The Premier League
Eze had a promising season at Selhurst Park recently after he produced a series of productive displays for the Eagles in the final third. The England international scored 11 times and secured six assists in 31 matches for Crystal Palace in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The 26-year-old was a consistent performer in the opponent’s half as he averaged 3.1 shots, 2.0 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even tidy when distributing the ball on the offensive end of the field based on his pass completion rate of 83.7% in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the London club will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man City to get a deal done for him on the cheap.
Is Eze A Good Choice For Manchester City This Summer?
Eze is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with the ball in and around the opposition penalty box. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. The English sensation can even create a few inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.
We can expect Eze to add more firepower to Man City boss Pep Guardiola’s attack. He is good enough to compete for some major trophies over the next few years. At 26, Eze is about to enter his prime which makes him an excellent choice for the Mancunian giants to pursue in this summer transfer window.
The English talent has already proven his worth in Premier League football and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Etihad Stadium. Therefore, Guardiola would be wise to go all out to get him on board before the end of this summer transfer period.
