According to The Athletic, Manchester City are considering signing FC Copenhagen forward Orri Oskarsson as a potential backup to Erling Haaland. The thought has come after the departure of Julian Alvarez and the injury sustained by Oscar Bobb.
Who is Orri Oskarsson?
Orri Oskarsson is an exciting talent, who has the potential to transform into an elite striker in the near future He joined FC Copenhagen in the summer of 2019 from Grotta. Since then, he has been in terrific form on the field for the Danish club.
Oskarsson featured in 41 games last season, netting 15 goals and providing eight assists. Interestingly, he already has seven goals and an assist in 11 games this season. This shows his progress as a footballer as his numbers are improving with each day passing.
The Icelander mainly plays as a striker but can also be deployed as an attacking midfielder. He is an intelligent player with strong technical abilities. Though he is clinical with his finishes around the penalty box, there is still a lot of room for him to improve.
A good backup option?
Manchester City are currently operating without the backup of Erling Haaland. They haven’t signed a replacement for Julian Alvarez, who left for Atletico Madrid. Moreover, the headache for Pep Guardiola intensified after exciting talent Oscar Bobb suffered a serious blow.
The situation has tempted the Citizens to look for an attacker in the market to have enough options as they look to defend the Premier League title. While they were linked to Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi, there has been no progress in the deal.
