In a recent report, BILD revealed that Manchester City are locked in a battle for Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman. It has been stated that Pep Guardiola’s team are set to compete with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the race to sign the French wide player this summer.
Coman’s Up-And-Down Season In German Football
Coman had a campaign of mixed emotions at Bayern recently as he missed lot of games due to injuries but managed to prove his worth at times for them in the Bundesliga. The French winger played in 27 matches for the Bavarian club last season, netting five goals and grabbing three assists in the process across various competitions.
The 28-year-old was a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 2.0 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He even distributed possession accurately in the opponent’s half after making 87.9% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
Coman is under contract at the Bavarian club until the summer of 2027. Therefore, Man City would have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting the Frenchman in this transfer period.
Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Move In For Coman This Summer?
Coman can use his pace to cause a lot of problems for his marker out on the flanks. He is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can set up a few promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
The France international can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. He mainly operates as a left-winger but can also play as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect Coman to enhance the quality of Man City boss Pep Guardiola‘s squad. He might even serve as an ideal replacement for Julian Alvarez who joined Atletico Madrid recently.
Therefore, the Mancunian giants should focus on moving in for the French wing wizard before the end of this transfer period. At 28, Coman is playing in his prime which makes him a decent option for Guardiola to consider this summer.
