Liverpool in the summer transfer window went a lot silent. Many were speculating on some big signings and money involved but it has been the opposite. They left it too late for signing and made only two additions to the unit despite a managerial change.
Liverpool’s Summer Arrivals
Giorgi Mamardashvili
Giorgi Mamardashvili was Liverpool’s first signing of the summer transfer window. They signed the Valencia shot-stopper for an initial fee of €30 million.
It seems like they eye him as the potential replacement for Alisson Becker, who is in the twilight of his career. Once the Brazilian departs, the club will hand over the responsibilities to him.
Federico Chiesa
Federico Chiesa became the second and last signing for the Reds this summer. The talented winger was left out of the plans at Juventus for next season, forcing him to find a new home. The Reds took advantage of the situation and lured him for just £10m with a further £2.5m in add-ons.
The Italian winger will provide a cover for Mohamed Salah on the right flank. Most of the attackers the English side had were good on the left wing. Hence, Chiesa’s addition will add versatility and depth to the unit.
Liverpool’s Notable Summer Departures
Sepp van den Berg– Brentford for €25m
Fábio Carvalho – Brentford for €27.5m
Stefan Bajcetic – RB Salzburg on loan
Giorgi Mamardashvili – Valencia on loan
Thiago Alcántara – Retired
Joel Matip – Left for free
Has Arne Slot Added Enough Quality To His Liverpool Squad?
In a top club like Liverpool, the club usually sign multiple names with a change of manager. However, this wasn’t observed at Anfield this summer. Arne Slot comfortably inherited the squad left by the previous legendary manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds signed goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, whom they have sent back to Valencia on a loan deal. On the other hand, Federico Chiesa has been a valuable addition to the squad. Logically, Slot’s side has all the tools to lift the prestigious trophies this season.
