It’s no secret that Liverpool are highly interested in signing Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon this summer. Now what comes as good news for the former club is that the player might force his move to Anfield, as reported by Football Insider.
Anthony Gordon left Liverpool at the age of 11
Anthony Gordon was a part of the Liverpool academy but as things didn’t work there, he moved to Everton. Later on, he joined Newcastle United, where he finally managed to start hitting the ground. His impressive performances over the past couple of seasons have caught the attention of the football fraternity.
Regarded as one of the best wingers in the Premier League at present, Gordan is in high demand. His versatility in the front line and his ability to create goals are widely appreciated. The player possesses a high work-rate and gives his all on the field.
The English international produced 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 games last season. He averaged 2.1 shots, 1.5 key passes, and 1.4 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He was also included in England’s Euro Cup 2024 squad but didn’t get to play.
Anthony Gordon might want Liverpool to return
Anthony Gordon’s future at Newcastle United has come under the radar. With Liverpool’s interest heating up, the player can force his move. Being a childhood fan of the English giants, representing them will be nothing sort of a dream for him.
Earlier, the Magpies were ready to exchange Gordon but they wanted Jarell Quansah to be included in the deal. As the Reds had no intention of letting the highly-rated defender leave, the deal didn’t go through. However, new developments could take place.
Liverpool are ready to offload Joe Gomez, whom the Newcastle United want this summer. It will surely allow the former to reduce the price of the deal. However, if no deal takes place, the Magpies will try to increase Gordon’s release clause to £100 million from £75 million.
