Joachim Andersen joined Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021 following an impressive stint with Fulham. Relying on his quality, he was given an integral position in the squad. The decision turned out to be on the position note as the player has been a solid performer.
Anderson played an instrumental role in keeping things tight at the backline for Crystal Palace. He featured in 40 games and netted two goals apart from three assists. He averaged 1.5 tackles, 1 interception, and 5.1 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Danish defender can play on both sides of the centre-back position or also a defensive midfielder. He is an intelligent player who remains calm under pressure. Known for his ball-playing abilities, he is excellent at supplying the ball up front.
Liverpool are unlikely to sign Marc Guehi
Liverpool are yet to sign a replacement of Joel Matip, who left the club as a free agent. As Joe Gomez is also heavily linked to a move away, the club need to fill the gaps. While they wanted to go after Marc Guehi, his price tag will be too much for them this summer.
Hence, the Reds have shifted their focus towards Joachim Andersen. The pursuit of Andersen makes sense as the player has prior Premier League experience. He can make an instant impact upon arrival and his consistency is something one can bet upon.
Andersen has two years left on his contract with Crystal Palace. As the 28-year-old remains to be a key member of the first side, the Eagles will try their best to hold onto the player.
