Newcastle United will entertain Southampton at St. James’ Park this Saturday afternoon as they look to pick up a win at home in the Premier League. The Magpies would be keen on getting their league campaign off to a flying start by securing all three points this weekend.
Eddie Howe will set his players up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to name a strong first team for this contest. Alexander Isak will spearhead Newcastle‘s attack up top while William Osula settles for a spot on the bench.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Nick Pope will play in between the sticks for the Magpies as he looks to keep a clean sheet at St. James’ Park this Saturday. Dan Burn will operate alongside Fabian Schar at the centre of Howe’s defence as they hope to keep the Southampton attackers quiet during the game.
Tino Livramento will function as the right-back while Lewis Hall hopes to put in a solid display as the left-back. Howe would allow both of them to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance they get.
Lloyd Kelly will be available for selection on the bench as he provides cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff will operate as Howe’s midfielders as they try to move the ball well and engineer some good chances for their teammates to find the back of the net.
Joe Willock will be named on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second half if Howe opts to call upon his services.
Attack
Anthony Gordon will try to impress as the left-sided wide player while Jacob Murphy looks to prove his worth on the right flank. Alexander Isak will lead the line for the Tyneside club up top. He would have to carry most of the goal-scoring workload for Newcastle in the final third.
William Osula and Miguel Almiron will have to settle for a place on the bench as they wait for their opportunity to impress in the latter stages of the game if the Magpies need a goal by then.
